Dr. Rogers joined the faculty of the Logsdon School of Theology in the Fall of 2024. He is an Associate Professor of New Testament and Greek Studies. Dr. Rogers is currently married with four children and three grandchildren (including twins). He is a two-time graduate pf Hardin-Simmons University (BA, ‘90 and MA ‘95).
Dr. Rogers’ ministry calling includes pastoral ministry, teaching, and missions. He has fulfilled these various callings through full-time ministry positions, interim pastor positions, full-time faculty positions, and adjunct teaching opportunities in Kenya through Wayland Baptist University.
His pastoral and ministry experience includes leadership at churches in the Fort Worth area (1992-2004) and Lubbock area (2005-2013). the following. Most recently he was the Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Wayland Baptist University (2013-2024.
Dr. Rogers has preached at many churches in West Texas and has been an official interim at several churches, including College Heights Baptist Church, Plainview Tx (2013). FBC Brownfield (2014), Alliance Church, Lubbock TX, (2015-17), FBC Paducah, TX (2020), Stonebridge Fellowship, Plainview, TX (2021-2022), FBC Lockney, TX (2023), and FBC Plainview, TX (2024)
Dr. Rogers holds the following certifications and membership.
· He is currently a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the Evangelical Theological Society.
· He is also a certified Intentional Interim Pastor with the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
· Dr. Rogers has led many January Bible Studies for local churches and has been involved in various lay training for local churches, including worship team training, individual Bible study trainings, “How to Interpret the Bible” classes, and pre-marital counseling courses.
· Dr. Rogers was awarded the Faculty University Service Award at Wayland Baptist University (2019-20) for service rendered in faculty committees, spiritual life committees, and work done with Virtual Campus courses.
· Dr. Rogers was also awarded the Outstanding Faculty Award for years running from 2017-2021 as voted on by the student body at Wayland Baptist University.
There is no truth to the rumor that he can be bribed with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and an iced tea.
