Dr. Brandon Awbrey joined the HSU faculty as an Instructor of Psychology and Counseling in 2015. He grew up in Sundown, Texas, a small oilfield community 200 miles northwest of Abilene. Dr. Awbrey is married with two children, and is a graduate of Texas Tech University.
Prior to joining the faculty, he served for 13 years as a counselor and adjunct instructor in Psychology at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. He is an active member of the Texas Counseling Association and was the 2015 President of the Texas College Counseling Association. Other experiences include working with juveniles, victims and children of domestic violence.
Dr. Awbrey’s research and clinical interests include: technology use in counseling and supervision, anxiety, emerging adulthood, academic achievement, mate selection and early marital relationships. He is currently licensed in Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
